3 Tips to Take Better Pictures With an iPhone

Do you have an iPhone? (If not, keep reading and we’ll tell you how to get a free chance to win an iPhone). If you do, then you probably take dozens of pictures a week with it. But did you know that there are some tricks that will help you get better pictures? Here are 3 tricks you should know about.

Don’t Use the Zoom Slider

When the iPhone sales person sold you the phone, he likely didn’t tell you about the zoom slider. Although the camera itself is great, using the slider is one of the biggest mistakes you can do when taking a picture. Instead of trying to zoom and out with the slider, simply get closer to the person or object you are trying to get in the picture.

Use the AE/AF Lock

Bad exposure ruins a lot of pictures, but the iPhone has a great solution for that. When taking your photo, simply tap the place on your screen where you want to the focus to be and where you want the exposure settings directed at. After you tap the area twice, hold it down until the box bounces twice. From that point forward, no matter how much you move your phone around, the setting stay the same. This comes in handy when a bright light behind your subjects creates dark shadows, or for other situations where the lighting is wrong.

Use HDR Settings

You can use the HDR settings on your iPhone to cheat a little bit and give you better images when you take pictures of landscapes or still life. Set your iPhone to the HDR setting, and it will automatically take 3 quick pictures of our subject. Then, the phone pastes them together in order to give you the best possible image. It’s important that when you use the HDR setting that you stay very still when taking the photo, otherwise it will come out blurry.
